where does it go and oh so quickly?

it just seem only a few short years ago I started this new endeavor into teaching after several years (more like, well a lot) in the private corporate world... then there were the initial couple years of subbing and now I am now entering my 7th year as a full-time visual arts teacher

as they say,

it flies

letter to parents

Take a moment to check this out -

Just another reminder that even with all the politcal hubbub that has been going on this year in respect to the teaching profession, most all teachers are in this field to (as trite as it may sound) make a difference in the lives of the students.

Think about it. I bet you have one teacher that you have not forgotten, for whatever reason.

hit hard

I like to think I'm clever when I use words that may convey double meanings, but I not sure if anyone "gets it" except me. Actually I'm pretty sure no one else does.

Yesterday was the anniversary of my mom's passing, and thus I was hit hard in a multitude of ways,  putting me in a state of feeling alone. Today this reminds me that that state of mind is OK, uplifting even...just change your perspective.

Teacher Tech Camp Assignment 1

technology.. hmmm...friend or foe? I'd be willing to say it is more of an acquaintance as in my previous career I was immersed in it. As of late, the technology is speeding by so quickly I find it difficult to keep up with all the changes. All in all I would say I know enough to be dangerous to myself and others...

in the classroom I find my students love technology and most are more adept at it than I. Most recently I use lapbooks to do searches and online assignments; use my smartboard extensively to view videos, do presentations, games and showcase artists work...

my hope by taking this workshop is to increase my knowledge of these things called "blogging" and "pod casts" so I able to use it effectively and my students can be more engaged (than they already are, of course) in the arts...

and thus begins a new journey into techdom....
